High School

Jesus said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”

Mark 10:14

A message from Pope Francis for all youth who are making their Confirmation:

Our current schedule is: Faith Formation Schedule 2018-2019

We welcome your children to our Faith Formation Program. Our programs provide classroom teaching on the components of our Catholic faith along with opportunities for parent instruction and involvement, prayer, retreat and service opportunities. As a parent, you are the first and best instructor of your child. Our programs are here to support your efforts to help your children grow in their faith and at the same time, help deepen your faith and commitment to the church community.

9th Grade

Our 9th grade sessions are held on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This year we will continue using a resource called Decision Point developed by Matthew Kelly. This curriculum will be available both in print and online. We will be covering parts of the book in class with the option to cover additional chapters at home. The goal is to provide a comprehensive overview of our faith in anticipation of celebrating Confirmation in 10th grade. 9th graders are also required to participate in the session on the Christian perspective of human sexuality.  This class focuses on how to develop healthy relationships and covers the church’s teachings on sex and sexuality. It provides an open forum for frank discussion of what our teens face in their world today and how that may coincide and/or conflict with what the church teaches.

10th Grade

The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the 10th grade. Immediate preparation for Confirmation is done along with our local catholic community of Corpus Christi Church in Round Lake, NY. It consists of four parent and teen sessions that rotate over the course of the year between the two parishes. The themes of the sessions focus on the rituals of Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation and Prayer. In addition to the sessions, all those preparing for Confirmation are required to attend a full day retreat. The retreats will be held at St. Mary’s, Crescent this year and all participants will be part of a service project scheduled the day of the retreat. Please be sure to plan ahead of time as our Confirmation program is a two year program and participation in a 9th Grade year of Faith Formation is required to enter the final year of Confirmation prep.
