All current Works of Mercy Projects are cancelled due to the current Health Crisis.

Current Opportunities:

The Corporal Works of Mercy are found in the teachings of Jesus and remind us to treat others as if they were Christ in disguise (Matthew 25: 31-46).  We, at St Mary’s Crescent are reminded of them each time at Mass.  They are in the stained glass windows behind the altar.   They are:

In an effort to more actively live these teachings in our parish and to mark our 151st year, we have started the Works of Mercy Project in 2019.  We will have a different opportunity to live the Gospel every month or two volunteering at or for different charitable organizations serving people in need in our community. These projects welcome and encourage all ages from children through seniors, families, single people and couples. We all have time and talent to share.

Our first project was a complete success!  On January 26th, we had 32 volunteers from our parish help sort food donations at the Northeast Regional Food Bank.  We had over 40 people volunteer, but needed to cap it off at 32 due to space limitations.  The response and generosity of our parishioners was amazing!  We had a great time working together while helping “feed the hungry”.  Thanks to all the volunteers!

Additional opportunities have been scheduled!  We have arranged to volunteer at the Food Bank quarterly.  We will be looking to volunteer again in June, September and November with those dates coming soon.  If you would like to join us for the April date, please call, email or text Kathy Andonie at 518-368-5513 or kathyandonie@aol.com ASAP as spots will fill up!

We are currently working out the details of some other volunteer opportunities.  We are looking into cooking and serving meals at the Albany Emergency Shelter and the Waldorf (Catholic Charities Housing).  Shelters of Saratoga have some areas of need as well.  Keep looking in the Bulletin for more information coming.  Let’s continue to live out the Works of Mercy in our parish.  Thanks, for all that you do already in our community.
